Client overview
Rumsey's Hand-made Chocolates owns and runs two chocolate and coffee shops in the Thame and Wendover area.
Problem
Rumsey's did have a website with shop facilities, but in need of re-design and re-structuring. The online shop had only 5 products on offer and the website navigation was confusing. The design itself had a distinctive antique feel with dull browns and unsaturated yellows which needed modernising.
Solution
As always, once we had planned and established a new website structure, we designed the visual layout first. The client had made clear their desire for rich imagery and had also provided a shortlist of websites they liked. We then set about creating the content pages using semantic XHTML and well structured efficient CSS.
The online shop uses PHP and MySQL technology to store and display product details, and the PHP GD image manipulation library to dynamically re-size images - meaning the client only needs to upload one image, and thumbnails are automatically generated.
The custom made shopping basket allows for multiple quantities of products and different area-based P&P costs, forwarding on to a Paypal payment gateway.
Testimonial
"We wanted to modernise and update our website, and to improve our online chocolate sales. Artlines have provided excellent design and concept initiation and turned our image into that of a contemporary and exciting company with a website to match. The online sales and navigation tools are now hugely powerful and user-friendly and the effect of Artlines' work has increased our online presence immensely."
