Chiltern Brewery
Client Overview
The Chiltern Brewery is the oldest independent brewery in the Chilterns, located just outside of Wendover Buckinghamshire.
Problem
In terms of design, the client's old website appeared out-dated, with no central navigation or page structure - which made for a confusing user-experience. The shop functionality was also cryptic, with all the products being listed on one page and javascript used to build up a shopping basket and order.
What they wanted was a fresh and exciting new website, which showcased the beautiful brewery, its surroundings and the products and services they offer. They wanted a clear and appealing online shop with easy-to-use and intuitive shopping basket and order functionality. They also wanted the site's content and products to be manageable and editable.
Solution
Utilising some excellent photography of the brewery, Artlines Media created a new design and page structure for the website. The site is XHTML/CSS coded to W3C standards and displays well across most commonly used browsers.
Product categories are 'attached' to their relevant parent pages (ie. bottled beers products and draught beers products appear automatically on the 'Our Beers' page) and the products display in an eye-catching and informative manner.
The sites content is managed via a custom content management system, Arena, which uses jQuery for easy ordering of pages and products. News, assets, the homepage gallery and product categories are also all controlled easily through the CMS.
The custom e-commerce functionality calculates delivery charges, passes basket items through the checkout and to the integrated payment page and records the order for future reference.
